MODULE TWO: Focused Learning Activities
We will be looking at Developing Criteria for Focused Learning and then two examples of ‘Focused Learning’ using De Bono’s DATT (Direct Attention Thinking Tools)
Activity One: Reflection
What Focused Learning Activities have you used in the past two weeks that you would like to share with the rest of the group?

Activity Two: KVI – Developing Criteria for Focused Learning
The K.V.I. tool explores what we value and what we find important.
Using the K.V.I. tool identify “Positive and Negative Values” related to Focused Learning.

Activity Three: Demonstration of OPV – Other People’s Views: Text Analysis
The OPV tool helps us look at other people’s viewpoints. It is an exploration tool. Using the O.P.V. involves two steps. First, list the people involved, then find out their views.
Focused Learning Activity:
This activity uses an OPV chart to assist with understanding characters in the text Cinderella. The activity can be adapted to use with texts for English and Literature.
Using the Text Cinderella:
§ Identify Key Players
§ Identify their views / reactions to the following scenario
o Cinderella is to go to the ball to marry the prince who has just announced he is gay.

Activity Four: Wiki
A Wiki is an online space where students can create and author new knowledge. They can monitor contributions they have made, add to, amend, and improve other contribution from other authors (students)
Using Wikispaces: http://lpl-bssc.wikispaces.com add to the site and create the new knowledge.

Feedback:
What alternative approaches would you like to investigate further? (e.g. Podcasting)
