What is Focused Learning?
The following points were made at our first session...
Focused Learning: ·Is teacher directed but student centred ·Is teacher initiated - may be done in response to a perceived need by the teacher (are there times when the student may request further ‘clarification’? Can it be student initiated?) ·Teacher monitored, directed and assessed (in instances of assessment for/as learning, could it be peer/self assessed?) ·Breaking down the purpose into key words/skills/knowledge – bite size pieces ·Organised activities which address specific skills, knowledge, research, understandings without context. ·Can be organic, not constrained Some questions to ask: ·Why do it? ·Focused on whom, by whom for what purpose?’
